6 Superfoods that Promote Glowing Skin

6 Superfoods that Promote Glowing Skin

In our quest for radiant, healthy skin, we often turn to skincare products and treatments to solve our problems. However, what we put into our bodies can be just as important as what we apply on our skin. A diet rich in superfoods can help nourish your skin from the inside out, giving you that coveted glow — with the obvious aded benefit of feeling good to too.

Hungry for that glow? Here are six of our favourite superfoods that can help promote radiant skin!

1. Avocado

Creamy and delicious, avocados are packed with healthy fats and vitamins that nourish and hydrate the skin. They contain vitamins E and C, which are known for their skin-brightening properties. You can incorporate avocados into your diet by adding them to into salads, mashing them on avocado toast, or our personal favourite — blending them into a green smoothie.

2. Berries

Who doesn’t love berries? Superfoods like blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are not only delicious but also great for your skin. They are loaded with antioxidants that protect the skin from damage, smooth skin texture, and reduce inflammation. You can sprinkle berries on top of yogurt, add them to breakfast smoothie bowls, or enjoy them on their own as a healthy snack.

3. Fatty Fish

How often do you incorporate sea food into your diet? Fish like salmon, mackerel, and sardines are extra rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help reduce inflammation and keep the skin moisturized. Incorporating fatty fish into your diet, even once a week, can help improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Try grilling salmon, making fish tacos, or preparing a fish curry for a tasty and skin-friendly meal.

4. Leafy Greens

Remember to eat your leafy greens! Greens such as spinach, kale, and arugula are all packed with vitamins A, C, and K, which promote collagen production and skin repair. These vitamins also help protect the skin from sun damage and improve your skin’s texture. You can add leafy greens to your diet by making salads, blending them into smoothies, or sautéing them with garlic and olive oil.

5. Nuts and Seeds

Don’t forget about the little guys! Almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, and flaxseeds are rich in vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats that are nourishing the skin. They also contain antioxidants that help protect the skin from damage. Snack on a handful of nuts, spread nut butter on whole grain toast, or sprinkle chia seeds on top of your yogurt for a skin-boosting treat.

6. Turmeric

Your pal for puffiness — Turmeric — is a spice that has been used for centuries for its healing properties. It contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can benefit your skin’s health. Adding turmeric into your diet is easy, whether you start your day off with a golden milk latte, incorporate it into curried rice dishes, or blend it into smoothies for a spicy kick (ps. it pairs well with pineapple!).

Incorporating these superfoods into your diet can not only help promote skin health, but they’ll also make you feel good — which at the end of the day is the most important thing. Combine a superfood rich diet with with a consistent skincare routine and adequate hydration for best results. Your skin (and your stomach) will thank you for it!
